  1. PJ Coudert says:

    Congratulations Christian !

    Keep going this way !

  2. Zxian says:

Just a note about your installer… I think that there’s a bug with the shortcuts selections (a couple of them might be mixed up), and it doesn’t add the proper information to the Uninstall section of the registry. Just a couple of things to help make the package more professional. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Keep up the good work.

  3. Sasha Tolich says:

Please check your download link for version 0.31 on page
    It is as http://prdhttp//
And thank you for the application development anyway

  4. dino says:

i like it and i cant wait for a new version to come….

but Burning an ISO file takes to loong or at least for me

i’am using Plextor PX-760SA and burning an image @ 12X takes about half an hour or so….

hope u read this and you correct it ๐Ÿ™‚

keep up the good work ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Christian says:

I will try to fix the speed problems as soon as I can test it for my self. I don’t have access to a > 4x DVD recorder at the moment.

Thanks for letting me know about the download link. I have corrected it.

  6. RowanC says:

Well done! finally a simple OSS CD burner for windows, it’s been missing for sometime I think.

It would be perfect I think if it added an MP3 and OGG to audioCD option (especially if it had track crossfading)!.

  7. McFrag says:

Audio CD – MP3, OGG, WMA support would be nice. Track gap settings would be useful.

  8. ssjkakaroto says:

Hi there, great program and best of all free, thx a lot!

I have one suggestion that no dvd/cd burning program that I know has implemented yet: Full support of the latest UDF specs (
This file has code examples that could be useful when implementing.

    Keep up the great work!

  9. dino says:

the copy cd function in the express need’s an option to select a image file and ofcourse to burn at selected speed ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Rafael says:

    Really nice work !

I had been looking for a .ISO burner and now I found it!

    Nero no More !!!

We wait for Audio CD – MP3, WMA, and others !

    Thanks !

  11. kazma says:

hey, I’m following this project. i am in the process of going completely open source with my apps and finally a cd recorder, bye bye nero!
looks nice for 0.31 but here’s a major showstopper for me:
    I have 2 burners, 1 produces unreadable/seemingly blank burns with infrarecorder ๐Ÿ™
    LITEON LTR 12101B (12xCDR) > always corrupted cd !
    NEC ND3520AW (16X DVDR) > good results !
hope you fix this in the upcoming versions… nice work.

  12. Darus says:

Great program, but it can’t work with my recorder ๐Ÿ™

I can’t erase rewritable DVD+RW, nor in quick, nor in full mode. Here’s the log:
(I removed the log because of its size, Christian)
Sorry for a bug report here, but I cannot found any other way to contact you, and the link to image with your email is broken.

  13. Christian says:

Erasing DVD+RW discs is currently not supported. I will try to add support for this in a future version.

  14. Patrick says:

How can I translate this program into Dutch/Nederlands?
Please send me all the information and I will try ๐Ÿ˜‰

Keep up the great GREAT work!

  15. Marc says:

Very great program, bye bye imgburn and other burning software
I am very happy with your soft ๐Ÿ™‚

Please could you put in your website zipped sources because we don’t have all a cvs program installed ?

Thanks you alot for your work

  16. Klaus says:

    Nice program. Thank you.

Suggestions: How about publishing your plans for future features/releases on the webpage.

And… any plans on burning video DVD?

  17. Rudy says:

I’ve a problem. InfraRecorder do not recognize my LG GSA-4167B drive and neither another dvd recorder marked NEC (i do not remember model) and every time the list is empty.
Someone have any idea about this? I need some other files?

  18. Christian says:

Good suggestion Klaus I’ll probably add a development/road-map section the upcoming weekend with information about future versions.

Rudy: You should not need any extra files. I am not sure what causes your drives not to be detected.

  19. Patrick says:

    Dutch translation is finished…
See it in next release ๐Ÿ˜‰

  20. Bagheera says:

Patrick, you did beat me.. i was working on a dutch translation also.

Christian did send me the “new setup” to test (beta) and it worked great…
So i think that the next release will be a really nice one ๐Ÿ˜‰

Too Chris. keep up the good work….

  21. K.Stoyanov says:

Cheers, great software, im waiting for new versions!

  22. oidan says:

at last, a decent and free cd/dvd solution. not just pretty a code but a pretty interFace too. uncluttered, very pleasing to look at and some nice icon work.
All the other burning apps really irritate me with their apparently “cool” interfaces that are supposed to be “simple” but just don’t work. but this on the other hand, does, and I’m liking it very much.

the only problem i am having is burning DVDs, i just get duff disks out that appear to still be blank. my drive is: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108

hope it gets fixed soon. keep up the good work.

  23. Pinzia says:

How can I translate infrarecorder in Italian?

  24. Christian says:

The next version should include better DVD-support.

Pinzia: An Italian translation was started for about a month ago by another user. However, I haven’t heard from him so maybe it has been canceled.

The English translation file can be found in the Translate section.

  25. Mischa says:

First of all, the programs looks very nice! Is there anyway to deploy this setup unattended for all users, not just the user installing the program, like the /S switch. Also I don’t like the icon on my desktop when deployed silent…

  26. Christian says:

It’s currently not possible to select what icons that should be used when performing an unattended installation.

Hopefully more installation options can be added in the future. I’ll add it to my to-do list (which hopefully should be available here soon).

  27. Konstantin says:

can you do some subscribtion for new releases info in the site – it will be nice…

  28. Miha says:

    Not work :-((
Error 0x6100365f adress memory 0x006ada90 Memory not be “written” in module cdrecord.exe
    DVD-ROM Pioneer 107

  29. john says:

infrarecorder does not detect my drive. I have an NEC 3250a. I think you have a great start and once infrarecorder supports my drive I will definately be using it. Keep up the good work.

  30. biki says:

any chance of adding burn on the fly function (using growisofs or something) would be useful with low free disk space

  31. Jack says:

    This program makes me hot.

Before mp3->wave is implemented, those of you that need to burn mp3 to CD format can use MediaCoder (also on sourceforge) to convert batches of mp3’s to 16-bit 44.1kHz windows PCM wav’s first. Or use itunes for the time being ;).

  32. Christian says:

To all with hardware related problems: The next version should include better DVD-writing support.

biki: I have plans on adding on-fly write support.

Jack: Great tip! I am currently working on support for different audio formats, MP3 included.

  33. dino says:

when is the a new version comming out???? ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. Patrick says:

    Hi Bagheera,

  35. Rob says:

Hi. I was looking for an easy one button cd copier for audio cds and was recommended to use Infra Recorder. After installation it appears one can copy with just a press of the ok button, but not so. You have to save all the tracks first, then copy to a cd. Is there plans in the future to add a feature so I can copy without having to first manually save all my tracks to the hard drive? Also, if I want to remove Infra Recorder, I don’t see it listed as such. How would it be listed in Add/Remove Programs? Thanks for your help.

  36. Christian says:

    Hello Rob!

I do have plans on making audio copying easier in a future version. I thought Infra Recorder was listed in Add/Remove Programs. I have always used the Uninstall menu item when testing the uninstaller. I’ll look into it.

  37. Rob says:

I look forward to an easier copy version of Infra Recorder. Thanks for being so responsive. :

  38. Robert says:

Infra Recorder sure is one of the best looking freeware burn utilities. Except for the blue-ish “Explorer View” and “Disc Layout” (; Still a nice job though. Downside is that it’s completely useless to me D: Like Rudy mentioned earlier the NEC DVD-Recorder (i’m using a ND-1300A) isn’t detected at all (also tried rebooting after installation). Not sure if more people experienced the same problem. Hope to see this fixed, really want to use this program )~:

  39. Ed says:

just a tup/idea for those users having trouble with the drive not being detected: when I run in a restricted-user (Power user or normal user) mode in windows XP then no drives are found, but running as Administrator then my drive is found no problem: this seems to be a common problem with burners in XP as they require more access to the hardware than is available without admin rights. I guess all programmers need to get used to the restricted rights in Vista soon anyway so such problems will be a thing of the past ๐Ÿ˜‰

  40. GGG says:

    Hello Chriastian!

Good program! I have a suggestion . Copy CD is a good feature, but only works for data CD. Would it be possible Copy Audio CD to be implemented.
    Thank you!

  41. biki says:

looks like no matter what recording speed i choose it always burns dvd at top possible speed.

  42. hagakurรƒยฉ says:

    good program
but I have a problem when I want to create an image :
The directory structure is too deep for …. maximum allowed depth is 6
It’s not possible to create an image with more 6 directory structure ?

  43. Christian says:

Hagakurรƒยฉ: At the moment this is a limitation. I will however try to add support for an extension which allows deeper structures in version 0.41.

  44. TCAF says:

For those wanting to run it as non-administrative accounts…
You may want to try changing the registry as an admin as follows:

    allocatecdroms = 1

    My comments about the application:
Looks very nice, but was concerned about not being able to run as non-admins, but I just sucessfully copied a CD to an image file with the above setting which hadn’t worked before. So hopefully that registry fix took care of it.

I think the wizard interface is very user friendly. Once you get into the dialog box, some of the plethrea of options might overwealm many users. [but personally I liked seeing the ability to control some of those settings that you often don’t have access to]

It seems that if you don’t have two CD drives you can’t copy a disc without writing it out to a permanent iso file first, even though you mention it is best not to do on the fly. It would be nice if it would manage copying the Disc to a temp file on disk and ask for the destinaction CD and write the CD to allow a single drive copy.

I think I might run into the 6 deep issue at some point, but seem to recall running into something similar in the past with another application, but don’t recall if it was 6 deep or not. Is it technically a filespace specification issue with some of the CD filespaces, or is it and implementation issue with the layout?

At this point I think I’ll be moving some people I know to this application very soon. It seems to have a much more refined and full featured than most of the freeware and shareware applications currently out there.

Thanks, Christian, for a top notch utility… I’ll be on the watch for updates and improvements.

  45. Salada says:

Hi Guys, have had a serious issue when burning a data DVD.

It seems that all of the data has become unreadable since being burnยดt to disk. The information is all there, but not 1 file will open. Neither Jpeg, psd or word.

When I try to open a jpeg with photoshop an error reads…

couldnยดt complete because encountered SOS, DHT, DQT or EOI JPEG marker before before SOI marker.

Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated

  46. fehenry says:

Thanks very much for a great program.
My needs are fairly limited and Infrarecorder meets all of them with the exception of burning mixed-mode CDs.
This is mentioned in your documentation but I can’t figure out how it is done.
Can you please tell me how to go about creating one?
