Thanks a lot, but it seems that the 2000/XP package is broken (I’ve got the CRC error trying to unpack the archive).

2. Infra Addict says:

Infra Recorder – THE FREE Nero Burning Rom ! Get it NOW! Thanks Christian for Infra Recorder!

3. rascal says:

yep, I also see the zip file for 2000/xp as broken (using 7zip)…

4. biki says:

great job!

i just found out that valid speed settings for dvd are those marked as CD (4x cd 0x dvd burns dvd at 4x)
i guess it was the problem from beginning. i was trying to burn with setting for 4x dvd and getting maximum possible speed and lot’s of underrun errors. is that working like that for anyone else?

5. Ivan says:

Thanks for this release, it was really long-awaited one!

Some minor bugs (or missing features?):
-you can not drag and drop the entire folder from the left side of the local filesystem window (top) to the project window (bottom)
-you can not drag and drop the file to a folder inside the project window
-on my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D I can not burn any project. It says “estimating the filesystem size”, then “filling the recorder buffer” and then it returns the CD-R back to me without any data actually written. I tested it with the CD-R only as I have got no other media at the time.
-you can not choose the file sorting order (name, size, etc) in the project window
-the filesystem size estimation takes as long as 1 minute for the large number of small files (about 6000). is it ok?

6. Ivan says:

Can you also add a feature to save the burn process log (maybe with some info about the system, recorder, etc) to file to ease the bug reporting? Maybe something like “Quality Feedback Agent” in Mozilla Firefox?

Thanks again

7. Galaktyczny Edek says:

Thank you for the program. Infra Recorder is truly great!

I just want to mention that the Polish translation is a bit faulty. I mean the meaning of terms are chosen in a right way (generally speaking…), but there are quite a lot of misspelled words (made by someone with dyslexia??), eg. orwórz should be otwórz, zarzÄ…dzaj Å›cierzkami should be zarzÄ…dzaj Å›cieżkami and szczeguÅ‚y should be szczegóły – just to name some mistakes.

8. rascal says:

ha! seems that 200/xp version s correct now!
go go infra! we need to get rid of that nero mastodont! 🙂

9. Gio says:

Great job, but also the version 0.41 cause (when I create a cd audio from mp3 files) error “Buffer overrun detected! A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program’s internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.”

how I can eliminate it? (I’ have WIN2000 SP4)

thanks

10. Wilhelm says:

Many fine improvements in Version 0.41! Thank you! InfraRecorder is on the way to a full-featured burning suite.

But there are also some strange things (maybe bugs?). First of all, when IR starts an error message is displayed: some “entry point” in irWMA.irc is missing etc.etc. followed by the question, if the user has a recent version of the library. Maybe this is dependent on my system: W2K and no recent Windows Media Player is installed.
Another thing is the failure of the mp3 plugin. If I drag mp3-files into an audio project, the result is always: “File type not supported”. I have installed the irLame.irc version 0.40 (the most recent one).

11. Ivan says:

Can you also add a feature to check the CD autorun setting in the registry and asking user to disable it?
Thanks

12. Ivan says:

More bugreports:

Infra Recorder says “the data succesfully written to disk” then no data had been actually written due to OPC error:

> Performing OPC…
> cdrecord: Input/Output error. send opc: scsi sendcmd: no error
> CDB: 54 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
> status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION)
> Sense Bytes: 70 00 03 00 00 2C 17 0E 00 00 00 00 73 03 00 00 00 00
> Sense Key: 0x3 Medium Error, Segment 0
> Sense Code: 0x73 Qual 0x03 (power calibration area error) Fru 0x0
> Sense flags: Blk 11287 (not valid)
> cmd finished after 10.084s timeout 60s
> cdrecord: OPC failed.
> Writing time: 14.531s
> cdrecord: fifo had 64 puts and 0 gets.
> cdrecord: fifo was 0 times empty and 0 times full, min fill was 100%.

IR also report no error then (as it shown in log) sending the CUE sheet to recorder fails.

Furthermore then you try to create an audio CD from mp3 files, the “Cancel” button really works only after decoding of the current file is finished.

13. Miha says:

Thanks, my Pioneer 107D work!!!
To do:
1. To when push the button “Record”, CD-RW or DVD-RW disk offered to clean (as in Nero).
2. Automatic disk size for project space meter.

14. Gio says:

I have disable CD autorun but the error is not resolved.
thanks for your help.

15. Vijay Avarachen says:

I had tried the old release on Windows XP 64 and it did not work. I am very happy to report that the new version works flawlessly on Windows XP 64 running on Opterons.

Thank you very much for the excellent release.

16. Christian says:

Hi everyone!

To everyone with buffer under run problems. Go to the options dialog and select the Advanced tab. Try to increase the buffer size to for example: 32 or 64 MiB. This might solve the problem.

The error message related to the irWMA plug-in is caused by the fact that Windows Media Player (version 8 or newer) is not installed. This plug-in offers decode support for MP3 and WMA through Windows Media player. I know this might not be the best solution, but it’s gratis.

The broken archive has been fixed.

Thank you for all comments!

17. McFrag says:

Not bad, not bad indeed. 😉

1. Audio CD – cannot change order of added tracks (random order when I add a folder with MP3 files)
2. Audio CD – cannot set gaps length between tracks
3. All Modes – drag’n’drop on folder trees (both) doesn’t work
4. All Modes – context menu for the explorer’s folder tree doesn’t work
5. Toolbar – icons could be bigger (please add small/large icon switch. BURN icon could be more visible. Maybe selective text labels could help?
6. DATA – autoload last session (if exist) option would be nice.
7. Polish lang file. The quality of translation is HORRIBLE. LOTS of errors.

18. Vacon says:

Hello everyone,

please do not missunderstand me, my first comment concerning InfraRecorder has been here too.
BUT: this is a news-page!
Anyone who tries to get informed about InfraRecorder gets “bug-reports”.
From the psychological point of view this not so fine…
Maybe we could switch to the forum?
http://sourceforge.net/forum/?group_id=175271
And let Christian spread his news here?
Just _my_ two cents!

Btw: why do we have to put in our mail-address into the form? I cannot find a way to reply directly to any comment (“will not be published”) and if I’m not willing to give my true one, I phantasize a little bit… Where is the consequence?

Best regards,
Vacon

19. Christian says:

Vacon is right! Please use the tracker for bug reports and feature requests. You can also use the forum or contact me directly by e-mail.

Sorry, I don’t know why you need to enter your e-mail in the form. I’ll see if I can disable this option.

20. Alan says:

Christian (or anyone else),

Swell job. Following up on a post I saw Dec. 21st, 2006 from hagakuré, did changes to the directory depth of 6 limitation make it into the 0.41 release and if so, what is the new max depth? Also, what if any additional extension is needed? If this is posted elsewhere please forward a link.

-thanks!
Alan

21. Marco Ravich says:

Thanks to this ROS forum 3ad, i just discovered the Rosetta Web-based translation system.
Rosetta is a Web-based system for translating open source software into any language. All you need to start translating is a Web browser, a good knowledge of the application you are translating, and a knowledge of English.
Hope it helps! 😉

note: it would be great to have an Haiku-port -> http://haiku-os.org/

22. Wilhelm says:

@Vacon
You have got a point, obviously. On the other hand – users are INVITED to give “comments” in the news section and this does not automatically rule out critical comments. Or does it? But in principle you are right. So only one last tiny question to
Christian:
Thanks for the explanations! Thought that my ancient version of the media player might be the reason for the failure of the wma plugin. Fortunately, I don’t need it. But what about the mp3 plugin? Why does InfraRecorder not recognise mp3 files, though the plugin is installed? Is it to do with the versions (IR is 0.41 and mp3 is 0.40)?

23. Frederic says:

thanks a lot, but I don’t erase dvd RW with Samsung SH-S182M double layer. I’am an error and eject my disc. Know you the probleme ?

24. Christian says:

Marco: Thank you for the hint about the Rosetta project. I always thought it was for GNU/Linux projects only.

Alan: There should be no limit in directory depth using ISO level 4 (ISO-9660:1999). This option has been added in version 0.41.

Wilhelm: The problem is that the WMA plug-in also handles MP3 decoding. The MP3 plug-in that’s available for download is encoding only, it can’t decode MP3 files. I can probably add MP3 decode support to it as well.

Frederic: Sorry, the erase DVD+RW feature is quite limited at the moment.

25. guwapo says:

BIG thanks for this great new version. The most important new feature for me was the ability to write custom projects on-the-fly.

Now I have a free Burn Application that does anything I need without any junk like spy/adware!

26. cybolon says:

Even with (still) some (minor) bugs:
IR is on the way to beat’em up.

Please, do not “blow”.
Please, do not become a “SUITE” !!!
(That’s what Nero & co. did…)

Stay a fast, good and intuitive program for burning purposes.

Thanxalot for offering gratis!

cybolon

27. dan says:

On the fly is not working and when I’m making a bootable cd with win xp it tells me that it could not find NTLDR when I boot from cd.

28. Janko Weber says:

ANSI version of Infra Recorder does not work on my WinME system.
I get this error messages:

29. rascal says:

dunno if its deliberate or bug, but when I create ISO with infra, it can´t be opened in 7zip, which has ability to open ISOs…

30. Franci says:

Simmilar bug? : created ISO image in Infra, then mounted under Linux and all files are non-readable for users, only admin (didn’t try it with 0.41, only 0.40).

31. Miha says:

Loading the processor when writing – 50% !!!!!!!!!!!!

32. pihug12 says:

Will Infra Recorder support overburning ?

33. Mec sympa says:

98/me version : Dvd writer detected.(ANSI)
2000/XP version : no dvd writer detected(UNICODE)

I’m under XP and i am french so sorry for my poor english.

34. Paolo says:

I had many problems while erasing dvd+rw (tdk), it shows me an error and erase is impossible.

35. Dan says:

Hello,

It’s a good program to replace commercial burning tools. Easy to use, no useless features: good work!

I have one suggestion: add the ability to sort files and directory in the disc layout. It’s very usefull when burning many files.

Thanks a lot!

36. burnman99 says:

This program rocks! Does it support CD Text? that would rule!

Later!,

burnman99

37. William Palmer says:

Great piece of software. Started using it for lots of things now. I’ve found it to be pretty stable too. Excellent work.

A couple of small things:
– when burning DVD’s of users files, some of the files have huge filenames. Could these be automatically trimmed, and a warning shown, rather than failing and having to manually rename the file?
– being able to specify how many copies of the DVD/CD that you’re writing you wish to have in the burn dialogue. Currently I’m creating an image and then re-burning that image numerous times. Would just be a nice feature.

38. Marco Ravich says:

Here are some more suggestions:

– involve cdrecord devs (http://developer.berlios.de/projects/cdrecord/) to make infrarecorder platform indipendent;

– some kind of collaboration with ONE-TWO-THREE-CD (http://developer.berlios.de/projects/pycdrom/) would be great too;

– libdiscimage (http://developer.berlios.de/projects/libdiscmage/) support would mean 3rd-party image formats burnability;

– keep in touch with Thorsten Muehlfelder, the burnCDDA developer: http://sourceforge.net/projects/burncdda/;

– support MusicBrainz! tagging (check out this CDex mod: http://users.musicbrainz.org/~pouwelse/);

Hope it helps 8)

39. Christian says:

Thanks everyone for your good suggestions! I’ll try to implement as many of them as possible, but I am afraid that all of them wont make it to the next release.

burnman99: Yes, CDText is supported.

40. apul says:

Hi there,

I just discover Infra Recorder, and it seems nice. BUT, I don’t know what “Write method” is the best… Screenshot here.

Thanks for help.

41. apul says:

Hello world!

1/ I was wondering which “write method” is the best to burn data CD and data DVD?
– Session-At-Once?
– Another?

2/ Why “Disc-At-Once” is not included in Infra Recorder?

Thanks! 😉

42. khagaroth says:

Session-At-Once = Disc-At-Once and it is the preferred write method, Track-At-Once/TAO with zero pregap is mainly for Audio CDs (DAO is also possible) and cdrecords default for multisession discs, raw methods are for disc cloning and the preferred one is raw96r.

43. Ace says:

Great program. One problem, however. First time I use the burner, I create a Live CD using TAO. Works fine. If i want to burn another CD, and I reopen the program, the general – method window is empty with no choices in the field.

44. Peter says:

Looking very good and very promising, but ……………….
what about this errormessage after starting the application:

The procedure entry point WMCreateSyncReader couldn’t be located
in the dynamic link library WMVCore.dll.

Regards and good luck

Peter

45. Er Bimbo says:

x Peter

You must have at least Windows Media Player 8.

46. mormat says:

Sorry for FAQestion, BUT
Is there any possibility to hide the Explorer View panels from the UI?
To my mind it’s not usable. Nothing but distraction.
Thanks in advance!

47. Christian says:

morma: No, this is currently no possible. Good idea though. I have added it to my to-do list.

48. sid says:

Looks like a great program! I downloaded and installed it on a WinXPsp@ machine but it doesn’t see the DVD writer, even after a reboot. I’ve tried rescanning with no luck. Suggestions?

Thanks.

49. lond says:

What about with limited user? Can it run under them?

Thk.

50. rdj says:

Very nice. I’d like to second the request to add the ability to re-sequence the tracks. Also, importing data (e.g. track title and artist from mp3 tags) from tracks to create track info would be great.

Also, I tried creating a Audio CD that would include CD-Text info, but failed on my first attempt. Any advice?

Regards

51. rhy says:

Any luck on getting this thing to burn an audio cd from mp3 yet? I’d love to find a way…. Other than that problem, this is my new fave cd burning app….

52. kevin says:

hi there, I am tryng to find help for this free program, but dont know if I am in the right place, I have installed infra -recorder on an XP windows system, it seemed to install ok , lots of screens and options appear BUT the most importantthing does NOT work – the OK button is not lit up!!! So I cannot do a darned thing with it!!!! My burner is an HP cd writer 8200; it came with its own software that works fine , but I was told to download and use this infra- recorder on a site where I was trying to download a version of Linux called Ubuntu. Can anyone help me please, maybe infra -recorder does not work with HP burners???? Thank you Kevin

53. kerry says:

Great software. The Vista version works like a charm (and great smoking effect during burning process).

The only issue that I have (and perhaps I’m not seeing the option) is the ability to order tracks according to their layout in the project window (rather than have them burned in alphabetical order). I’m converting old records to CDs and want to keep the wav files in the order that they appeared on the album. Any help, or is this something that’s not supported?

54. ethveg says:

Same problem as one above:

Infra Recorder says “the data succesfully written to disk” but no data had been actually written due to OPC error:

> … Input/Output error. send opc: scsi sendcmd: no error
> … OPC failed

On XP w/ SONY DVD-RW

55. HC says:

The EXACT same problem as ethveg, with both version 4.5 and 4.6, using XP SP3 with Matsushita CD-RW. Very little google pulls up in the way of answering this – mostly from Linux users.

Will lay off the negative comments regarding this software until team has a chance to respond.

56. Johnny says:

I have the same prob
Infra Recorder says “the data succesfully written to disk” but no data had been actually written due to OPC error:
it ask me to earse what was on the cd-rw before it burned so i said yes but it did not work how can i fix this ty.
